Welcome to Viva Scoop, your monthly overview of everything Vivacity Technologies.

After celebrating our one year birthday the previous month, October provided some wonderful ups and some very painful downs. As we all know, growth is rarely a straight line.

On the upside we secured some hugely exciting projects with the City of Kelowna. These new projects really encapsulate the vision of Vivacity and our growth into digital infrastructure and the Intelligent City space. On the other hand I had to terminate the employment of one of our team members, which was a very painful experience.

So for a deeper dive on Vivacity’s wiggly line of growth, herewith Viva Scoop October.

An Intelligent City with the City of Kelowna

Our big news for the month of October is that we’ve signed not one, but two agreements with the City of Kelowna. The first agreement is focused on connectivity at the Kelowna airport, while the second is focused on deploying an Intelligent City and Living Lab environment. This is HUGE for us as it's the path we’ve been working on since inception.

Working with the City of Kelowna will also add some significant credentials behind us and adds to our growing collection of amazing municipal clients (City of Kamloops, City of Pitt Meadows and the District of Logan Lake).

Next steps are for us to rock the solution for Kelowna and then expand from there. Viva-City!!

The squiggly line of success

It was a very hard decision to make and one that personally took some time to process and deliver. Ultimately, you have to make choices based on the organization and the performance of individual team members. I won’t go into any details on who or why, but I believe it’s important to share that things aren't always rosy for us and Vivacity like any organization will never go from A to B without some bumps along the way.

This is a steep learning curve for the team and my personal goal is to do better next time. As Tony Fadell would say 'Do Fail Learn'.

Going GOLD at the TRU Security Conference

We’re proud to announce that Vivacity will be going gold for the Thompson Rivers University Privacy and Security Conference. This is an exciting event being held on January 26th in Kamloops and through our gold sponsorship we'll be able to support our local university/community while also gaining a little exposure along the way.

In addition, we benefit from a 40 min speaking slot where we plan to undertake a fireside chat with the City of Kamloops, BCLC and potentially TRU. Exciting stuff for us and it's great to see Vivacity among some other very prestigious brands including AWS, CDW, Tenable and Microserve to name a few.

Setting our One-Year Goals

After Vivacity's first birthday 🎉, we had the opportunity in October to meet as a team and figure out where we want to go over the next year. For this we used New Quest Coaching and Consulting, with the amazing Shane Jensen facilitating our one-day session. It was a great day with the team, where we all had the opportunity to contribute and help direct our path forward.

These strategy sessions provide an amazing opportunity for us to connect as a team, have a few chuckles, and lay out a combined vision for the organization. Throw in a little team building along the way and what could be better.

In case anyone is keen to emulate this session with your own organization, I highly recommend Shane and his team. The energy and professionalism Shane brings is first class.

Help!!

Please spread the word on what we do and who we are. It's simple, but massively beneficial for Vivacity.

Thank you so much for tuning in and don't hesitate to reach out to the Viva team with any questions.
