Welcome to VivaScoop, your monthly rundown on everything Vivacity Technologies.
Thanks again for tuning in and I really do appreciate you staying in the know on everything Vivacity. Its been another fun month of moving projects and initiatives forward. On this front, we're delighted to announce a new member of the team and the expansion of our VivaCitadel solution to include Freedom of Information Requests. On the downside, we're saying goodbye to Kobe, who came on as a co-op student last year. Kobe took on a huge number of projects during his tenure, including redesigning our VivaCitadel logo! Something makes me think we'll be seeing Kobe again before too long.
As always, there's lots of exciting news to share, so herewith VivaScoop April.

The VivaTeam adds a new member
This month, the Vivacity team is thrilled to announce that we have welcomed onboard our newest member: Angie Poveda! Angie joins our biz team as our new Business and Marketing Assistant. In her role, Angie will help us deliver on key client projects and take our marketing efforts to the next level, bringing a fresh new perspective and insights to the team.
Angie recently graduated from her Bachelor of Business Administration from TRU. She comes to us with a wealth of experience, spending her university years as the President of Enactus and having run a marketing start-up based out of Panama City.
We are super excited to have Angie as part of our team and can’t wait to see what she'll accomplish over the next few months. Welcome, Angie!

Vivacity to develop FOI platform with the City of Kamloops
Earlier this month, the team was excited to announce our newest partnership with the City of Kamloops! Starting this month, Vivacity is developing our newest use case of VivaCitadel to help support Freedom of Information Requests. The City of Kamloops is taking the role as our lead design partner for this solution.
This partnership will see collaboration between the VivaTeam and the City’s Legislative Services Department to identify key elements of the FOI process and nail down workflows to ensure the solution runs smoothly to meet the City’s needs. This multi-month project will culminate in the first live deployment of our new use case, and the City’s feedback and guidance will be invaluable during this process.
We would like to say a huge thank you to the City of Kamloops for joining us on this journey! Stay tuned for more updates on VivaCitadel FOI! You can read more in our press release here.

First Year of MISA Prairies for the VivaTeam
At the beginning of April, myself and Stefano Stamato attended the MISA Prairies annual conference for the first time as a bronze sponsor of this year’s event. We’ve attended MISA BC numerous times in the past, and even taken a trip to MISA Ontario to present on VivaCitadel last year, but this was our first foray into the Prairies.
MISA Prairies gave us a chance to connect with a new host of municipalities from across the central provinces, meeting new faces and starting new conversations. We had a lot of fantastic discussions at our booth, and loved connecting with new municipal IT folks at the evening socials. It was a particularly entertaining challenge to connect with new people over a good old fashion line dance!
This opportunity set an excellent foundation for a number of new connections, and we can’t wait to come back again next year to some familiar faces!

Kobe Says Farewell to Vivacity after Extended Work Term
After an amazing year at Vivacity, our Brand and Marketing Designer Kobe Shimoyama has moved on to continue his software development journey while he finishes his bachelor degree in computer science at TRU. We asked Kobe about his experience at Vivacity and his favourite memories with the team. And I quote:
“I can hardly describe how lucky I am to have been part of such an incredible team. Ever since I started my first work term with Vivacity last May, I’ve been shown this genuine warmth and openness from everyone that made me feel like I could take on anything they can. It’s helped me tackle big, scary projects full of unknowns and learn valuable skills and workflows I can bring to new roles. From gargantuan reports to brand-new multimedia designs, I feel proud to have built so many cool things and with such talented and genuine people.
Out of all the fun I’ve had, I would say my favourite memories were from our Christmas party. Wrapping up the year with everyone and their families over dinner, playing games and doing trivia together, and sitting down after to just hang out and hear each others’ stories was such a perfect night. Thank you all so much for sharing this experience with me!”
We wish Kobe all the best of luck as he continues his journey, and are excited to see where he goes from here!
