Welcome to VivaScoop, your monthly rundown on everything Vivacity Technologies.

It was an exciting start to 2025 as we kicked off the year with our quarterly strategy/rocks session, while continuing to drive several critical projects forward. These projects included improving and scaling VivaCitadel, City of Kamloops dark fibre analysis, and Simpcw Resource Group vCIO support services. Our team has been hard at work, driving innovation and setting the stage for a successful year, but we also managed to get away for some much needed downtime, which included snowshoeing!

To learn more about our activities over the last month, herewith VivaScoop January.

Connectivity Assessment for Simpcw First Nation

Vivacity is delighted to announce we are working with Simpcw First Nation for a Community Connectivity Assessment! Kicking off in February, this project aims to prioritize improvements to Simpcw’s internet connectivity across band facilities and community member housing alike. We’ll be reviewing and analyzing fibre network assets, network equipment, and technical support for Simpcw’s facilities in the near future, providing a cost-and-benefit analysis as well as a roadmap for potential enhancements.

We’re thankful for this opportunity to partner with Simpcw First Nation and collaborate on network improvements for the benefit of their community members!

RFP Leads to New Service Provider for City of Castlegar

Last year, Vivacity aided the City of Castlegar in the process of going to a Request for Proposal (RFP) for a new IT managed service provider. With Vivacity's help, the City of Castlegar is delighted to announce it has chosen their new managed service provider: Sea to Sky Technology Services! Based in Squamish, Sea to Sky supports Western BC and beyond with a range of IT services.

Prior to the RFP process, Vivacity was engaged to perform an IT assessment with Castlegar to understand their current IT environment and its future direction. With criteria for the most relevant services and expertise, we helped Castlegar develop the RFP and bring it to market, as well as supporting them with evaluating potential service providers. We’re thrilled to see this process come to fruition and we will continue to support Castlegar in establishing their new partnership with Sea to Sky!

TRU Privacy and Security conference logo 2025

Vivacity Attends TRU Privacy and Security Conference 2025

As per tradition, the VivaTeam visited Thompson Rivers University (TRU) for the ninth annual Privacy and Security Conference. This year, we joined information and security officers, network specialists, ethical hackers, and other IT experts in exploring the ecosystem of the dark web: a hidden world of networks and marketplaces unreachable by your typical search engine.

We were pleased to connect with some familiar faces while learning about cybercrime, threat intelligence, and other evolving areas of the dark web. Attending conferences like this reminds us of the importance of connecting with and supporting our local IT industry, community, and the best and brightest young minds coming out of TRU.

We would like to thank the wonderful team over at TRU who put this conference together every year. We hope to see you all again next year!

The VivaTeam at Stake Lake

Snowshoeing at Stake Lake Trails

Greetings from Stake Lake Trails! For January’s team building activity, the VivaTeam ventured out to Stake Lake and Lac Le Jeune for a beautiful afternoon of snowshoeing in the sun. The spectacular trails around Stake Lake took us through beautiful forests and across frozen lakes. We were blessed with sunny clear skies the whole time and stayed plenty warm during our lap before settling into a log cabin to share a wonderful homemade meal and some downtime.

In light of the ongoing feud for best athlete between myself and Jaime Sedore, we took the opportunity for a snowshoe race and a “casual” hockey match on the ice to finish off the day, complete with some friendly body checks and slapshots. While we cannot definitively say who is the best athlete, it was a team building event to remember, bruises and all!

Help!!

Please spread the word on what we do and who we are. It's simple, but massively beneficial for Vivacity.

Thank you so much for tuning in and don't hesitate to reach out to the Viva team with any thoughts or questions.
