Thanks for tuning in! If you’re new to this newsletter, each month we share key highlights from across the organization. In this edition, we are excited to provide updates on our new release for VivaCitadel FOI, a dive into our Simpcw First Nation projects, celebrating Max and Fernando’s 1-year work anniversary, and the team’s day out at the Kamloops Food Bank.

VivaCitadel FOI Gets an Upgrade

We have officially rolled out a wave of new features for VivaCitadel FOI specifically designed to streamline Freedom of Information (FOI) workflows for our clients. Our latest release significantly improves end-to-end request tracking within the Letters tab, looking at:


  • User Assignment - Assign specific letters directly to individual team members to establish clear ownership across departments. Assigned users are also visible in the detailed request view.

  • Real-Time Status Tracking - Track documents directly through clear workflow stages, Drafting, Awaiting Approval, and Ready to Send, without having to navigate back to the primary request details.

Delivering New IT Infrastructure for Simpcw

We are proud to share a major project update regarding our ongoing work with Simpcw First Nation. To establish a digital foundation, our team is executing a comprehensive refresh of their data centre. This modernization includes deploying high-performance cabling, re-architecting the physical layouts, and completing modern terminations. These upgrades will significantly enhance the overall network performance today while ensuring the core infrastructure remains adaptable well into the future.

 

In addition to updating the data center, we are actively supporting the buildout of internet services designed to serve both the community and Simpcw administration. A key priority of this phase involves supporting the installation, routing, and termination of new fibre optic lines throughout the community.

 

Together, these upgrades give Simpcw a strong, reliable network for the future. By fixing the connectivity gaps, we’re helping local leadership run operations smoothly and bringing dependable internet access to the whole community.

Max & Fernando's 1 Year Work Anniversary!

Happy 1-year work anniversary to Max and Fernando! Joining the Vivacity team right after VivaCitadel FOI’s initial design phase, both full-stack developers have been instrumental to our success, each completing over 100 stories, conducting countless code reviews, and providing essential technical support.

 

Over this past year, Max has evolved into a vital architectural lead, designing feature roadmaps, creating implementation stories, reducing tech debt, and owning our OAuth2.0 email migration. Similarly, Fernando has transitioned from balancing university part-time to starting full-time this past January. He has taken the lead on the AI redaction for Saskatchewan’s legislation and setting up Azure deployment instances for Pitt Meadows and Saskatoon.

 

Beyond the incredible work they do for the product team within Vivacity, Max and Fernando are amazing teammates – kind, funny, respectful and constantly bringing new ideas to improve our product and code. We wouldn’t be where we are today without them!

Team Building at the Food Bank

For this month’s team-building activity the Vivacity team stepped away from their desks to volunteer with the Kamloops Food Bank. It was a fantastic opportunity to swap our usual office routine for an afternoon of hands-on-service, coming together to support a vital local organization.

 

The Vivacity team brought incredible energy from the start, sorting through incoming donations to packing essential food hampers, everyone jumped in to make a real, immediate impact in our community.

 

We extend a massive thank you to the dedicated team at the Kamloops Food Bank for hosting us and for the extraordinary work they do every day to nourish and uplift our neighbours.

 

Giving back to the community was a powerful reminder of what strong teamwork can accomplish. Shoutout to the incredible team for bringing their enthusiasm to make the day a rewarding success!
