Welcome to VivaScoop, your monthly rundown on everything Vivacity Technologies.
March is here and with it the colder weeks of February are in the rearview mirror. February was another solid month for the Vivacity team, however, as our velocity increased for VivaCitadel functionality improvements and we kicked off a new Community Connectivity Assessment for Simpcw First Nation. We also held a VivaCitadel Design Partners Program meeting and started prepping for the busy conference season to start.
Lots to look forward to, but in the meantime, herewith VivaScoop February.

VivaCitadel Deploys Major Platform Update
This February marks the first major update to VivaCitadel, implementing new functionality and quality-of-life improvements based on feedback from clerks and end users from the City of Kelowna! This update adds a brand-new dashboard that shows clerks the status of all of their Property Information Requests (PIRs) at a glance, allowing them to track and organize PIRs without needing to search their emails. Clerks can now sort PIRs by status, number, or requestor name, making it easier to know when and where to follow up.
In addition to the dashboard, we also implemented a confirmation dialogue for when owners request information on their own properties. This ensures clerks know the form is error-free and saves time that would otherwise be spent reaching out to the owner to clarify their intent. On top of that, we added functionality to include multiple file recipients to PIRs, allowing organizations to automatically forward property documents to relevant parties the instant a PIR is served.
We always strive to improve our work through collaboration with our partners and their communities. These enhancements are only possible with input from Kelowna’s realtors and city staff, and we’re thankful for their ongoing support. To see the portal live in action, see here.

Vivacity is heading to MISA Prairies 2025
At the end of March, the Vivacity team is heading to scenic Lake Louise for the Municipal Information Systems Associations (MISA) Prairies Annual Conference & Trade Show! This will be our first attendance at MISA Prairies, for which we’ll also be a first-time bronze sponsor!
This conference is a business development and networking hotspot for municipal IT across Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. We’ll be joining discussions about the latest developments in the sector, learning about the tools these cities are using to enhance organizational processes and improve the lives of their citizens. After hosting a presentation at MISA Ontario last year, we’re looking forward to kicking back a bit this time around and taking some notes from the experts in cybersecurity, geospatial intelligence, and data infrastructure.
We hope to see some new and familiar faces at our booth soon!

First VivaCitadel Design Partners Program Session of 2025
Joined by the City of Kelowna, City of Kamloops, City of Prince George, and special guest City of Mission, Vivacity kicked off the first VivaCitadel Design Partners Program session of 2025! This session opened with an overview of our deployment with Kelowna, featuring some feedback from city staff and citizens who used the platform as well as lessons learned from deployment. We also talked about how we integrate user feedback into our development cycles, refining VivaCitadel over time.
During the session, we got to learn about different municipal approaches for adopting digital initiatives, from inception, to internal testing, and finally implementation and change management. It was exciting to see IT leaders from around the province bounce ideas off of each other and create opportunities for knowledge sharing in real time!

Teambuilding at the Kamloops
Blazers Game
Last week, the VivaTeam went to the Sandman Centre to watch the Kamloops Blazers duke it out against the Portland Winterhawks.
This was a lively first-time hockey experience for Premie and Stefano. Stefano was the target of not one but two (!) rogue pucks flying into the stands. We also got to see the Winterhawks empty their net in the third period when they were down 2-3. Against the odds, the Blazers broke their six-man defense and took a victory stroll to the net, finishing the game 4-2! It was fist bumps all around, and a great moment to wrap up our night together.
Undertaking fun and interesting team events is a critical part of who we are at Vivacity, so a big thank you to the team for making it such a fun night!
